One challenger wins for Otsego board One challenger for the Otsego County Board of Representatives won Tuesday.
Democrat Linda Rowinski defeated incumbent Republican Scott Harrington in a race for the District 13 seat on the Otsego County Board of Representatives.

Otsego County treasurer contest too close to call Only five votes separated Otsego County’s treasurer candidates in unofficial results released Tuesday night by the Otsego County Board of Elections.

With all 57 districts reporting, Democrat Daniel Crowell of Middlefield had 5,869 votes to Edward Keator Jr.’s 5,864.

Bernier victorious in city judge race ONEONTA — Lucy Bernier will replace Judge Walter L. Terry III on the Oneonta City Court bench.
Bernier, the appointed judge on the city bench, received 61 percent of the vote in two-way race against City Prosecutor Michael Getman, according to unofficial results from the Otsego County Board of Elections.

Wood remains town supervisor The town of Oneonta will continue to be led by its incumbent supervisor, but two challengers for the town council are separated by 16 votes with slightly more than 100 absentee ballots to be counted following Tuesday’s election.

Oneonta Town Supervisor Robert Wood, a Democrat, won a second term in office by defeating town constable Anthony Natalini, a Republican, by a vote of 762 to 445.

Oneonta picks Dick A three-way race for Oneonta mayor ended Tuesday night with a victory by former Hartwick College President Richard Miller.
Miller, 66, an independent running on the Democratic line, took 50.2 percent of the vote while Third Ward Alderman Erik Miller, a 35-year-old Republican, garnered 41.6 percent. State University College at Oneonta student Jason Corrigan, 21, took 8.2 percent on his independent party line.

Early turnout ’steady’ in Oneonta

Polls opened at 6 a.m. throughout the area for Tuesday’s general election.

“It’s been very steady, which is encouraging,” Dorothy Wooden, an election inspector at the Foothills Center for the Performing Arts, said at about 12:30 p.m.

Margery Merzig, an election inspector, said 560 of the 3,443 registered voters in the First, Second, Fifth, Sixth and Eighth wards in the city had been to the center by the noon hour.

Wooden, who was directing voters to their polling booths, said more voters were expected as schools and businesses closed later in the day.

“Hopefully, we’ll have a good turnout,” Wooden said.
