Thunderstorm watch in Delaware, Otsego, Chenango, Schoharie

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for much of New York state, including the entire four-county area.

The watch, which is less severe than a warning, is in effect until 8 p.m. for this area and 24 other counties.

A short-term forecast for the area issued by the NWS warns that “isolated showers and thunderstorms” will develop today. “Brief heavy rain and hail” are possible.
