Thunderstorm alert for Stamford area

A strong thunderstorm will affect southeastern Otsego and northeastern Delaware counties, according to the National Weather Service.
At 8:14 p.m., Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm capable of producing very heavy rain, the NWS said. This storm was located 7 miles northwest of Stamford and moving southeast at 5 mph.
The strong thunderstorm will be near Stamford at 8:45 p.m.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm, and people are urged to move indoors immediately.
