Bills re-authorizing sale tax collections in Delaware and Schoharie counties have been approved by the state Senate and sent to New York Gov. David Paterson to be signed into law, according to the offices of state senators James Seward, R-Milford, and John Bonacic, R-Mount Hope.
The bills had been held up by the impasse in the Senate, where Republicans and Democrats have both claimed to control the chamber in the last month.
A bill that would allow Oneonta Fire Chief Robert Barnes to consolidate his retirement pensions from the county and the city has not yet been acted upon, according to Jeff Bishop, Seward’s spokesman.
Bishop said that bill may come to a vote this week.
He also noted that bills authorizing occupancy and mortgage recording taxes in Schoharie County were approved late last week.
