Richfield Springs Mayor Garbera resigns

John Garbera II has resigned as mayor of the village of Richfield Springs.
“He resigned for personal reasons and it’s effective today,” Donna Wells, village treasurer, said Tuesday afternoon.
Garbera, 62, was in the last year of his first full two-year term. He also had served as mayor for several months after the death of Mayor Leonard Butler in July of 2007.
The Richfield village Board of Trustees is scheduled to meet tonight to appoint an interim mayor to serve until next spring, when Garbera’s term was scheduled to expire, she said.
