Swine flu update

No results were returned Tuesday for a possible swine-flu specimen sent to the state for testing, Delaware County Public Health officials said.
Delaware County has sent one suspect case of H1N1 virus. The specimen will be sent to the state lab to confirm, according to the county’s public health website. This is the first suspect case in Delaware County. All suspect cases must be approved by the local health department before being sent to the New York State Lab.

As of 7:30 Tuesday night, there remains no local cases of swine flu in Chenango, Delaware, Otsego and Schoharie counties.
According to the state Department of Health, there is one case each in Cortland and Onondaga counties, each of which have a border with Chenango County. Those are the closest-known cases to our area.
