Health events in Norwich, Oneonta on Wednesday

Free informational events on health issues are being offered tomorrow to area residents.
■ In Oneonta,a stroke-awareness presentation will be held at 7 p.m. at the FoxCare Education Room. FoxCare is on state Route 7 in Oneonta. Bassett Healthcare is organizing the presentations, and organizers said the goal is to ensure residents understand stroke risk factors, prevention and symptom recognitions to treat stroke.
The presentation will also address public outreach and education, raising awareness among stroke survivors and their families about secondary stroke prevention, as well as the health and quality-of-life issues affecting them.
The sessions are expected to last about one hour, with time for audience participation, the release said.

■ In Norwich, a free heart-health festival with screenings and activities will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Chenango Health Network will host the Go Red Chenango Heart Festival at West Side Park.
There will be free screenings for blood pressure along with educational vendors, the release said.
Each hour, an activity will begin, among them being ballroom dancing lessons, yoga, zumba and massage sessions. Heart-healthy food and educational information will be available.
A farmers’ market will be presented and other displays, giveaways and activities are planned, organizers said.
