Deputies: Summit man found dead

A Schoharie County man last seen Friday was found dead Tuesday afternoon, according to a media release from the Schoharie County sheriff’s office.

Jeremy Cain, 26, of Summit, was last seen Friday night on Bear Gulch Road in the town of Summit, and he was reported missing at about 12:58 p.m. Tuesday, deputies said.

A search was launched involving the county sheriff’s office, Summit Fire Department, county search-and-rescue and state forest rangers. At about 2 p.m., the release said, a body was located at the bottom of a 200-foot ravine along Bear Gulch Road and identified as that of Cain.

An autopsy is scheduled, the release said, and the incident remains under investigation.
